Advice and Advocacy

We run advice sessions in each of the centres. Advice is provided by our Centre Workers, Mental Health Workers and Volunteers and also by advocates from some of our Partner agencies.

  • Consumer issues, benefits, housing, law and rights:

An advocate from the Southwark Citizens Advice Bureau visits Crossway once every two weeks.

  • Health:

A number of advocates from the Three Boroughs Health Inclusion Team attend our centres: An Access Worker attends Crossway every week and our centre at Peckham Park every two weeks, and at Crossway a Nurse and a Health Improvement Specialist–who provides advice on self-help pain management techniques–attend on alternate weeks.

  • Immigration:

SDCAS is registered at General Help Level 1 Advice with the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) and Community Legal Services (CLS) Quality Mark. We work in partnership with the Southwark Law Centre.

  • Mental Heath:

Our Mental Health Development Worker attends our Peckham Park Centre every Wednesday. Every week our Men’s Storytelling Group meets at Copleston and our Women’s Therapy Group at Crossway.
